I've replaced it with the crack, and everything seems to be fine. Up back another one asking for the Makin Magic CD 1 to proceed. A The Sims Makin' Magic.
Installation of 'The Sims' is relatively easy. You insert the CD and a prompt to install appears. From there, it is simply a matter of following the directions. You won't need to do anything special, although in the end you'll be asked if you want to register the game. However, things can become complicated when you start installing expansion packs.
Correct Order to Install 'The Sims' Expansion Packs
Expansion packs should be installed in the order they were released for the best results. This is to ensure that you have the correct versions of the files. You can install 'The Sims: Deluxe Edition' over the original game and expansion packs you already have.
The recommended installation order is:
'The Sims' or 'The Sims Deluxe' or 'The Sims Mega Deluxe'
'The Sims: Livin' Large'
'The Sims: House Party'
'The Sims: Hot Date'
'The Sims: Vacation'
'The Sims: Unleashed'
'The Sims: Superstar'
'The Sims: Makin' Magic'
You don't have to own all seven expansion packs, but install the ones you have in the order they were released. For example, if you have 'Livin' Large,' 'Vacation' and 'Superstar,' install them in that order. If you later buy 'Hot Date,' you should uninstall the expansion packs and reinstall all of them in the correct order.
Installation Tips
There are two things you should remember to do before installing an expansion pack. The first is to back up your files. The second, to follow a series of steps you should complete when installing any new game on your Windows computer:
Use Disk CleanUp to delete unneeded files to free up disk space.
Search your hard drive with ScanDisk for lost allocation units and cross-linked files and directories
